Healing the wounds beneath compulsive sexual behavior and betrayal
Attachment- and trauma-focused therapy for men struggling with sex addiction, and for the partners who have been hurt by it. Lakewood, NJ.
If you are struggling with sex addiction
Compulsive sexual behavior is rarely just about sex. For many men it is a way to manage shame, loneliness, or a nervous system that never learned it was safe. Understanding that is where change begins.
Together we work on the attachment wounds and trauma underneath the behavior, so that recovery means more than white-knuckling.
Learn about treatmentIf you have been betrayed by your partner
Discovering a spouse’s sexual behavior can shatter your sense of safety and of what is real. Hypervigilance, confusion, and grief are normal responses to a real injury, not signs that something is wrong with you.
I look at betrayal through an attachment lens, and support partners individually or, when it is right, as a couple.
Learn about partner healingI work mostly with individuals and also see couples. Not sure which path fits you? Call me and we’ll talk it through.
An approach built on how the brain and body heal
Insight alone often isn’t enough. My work brings together four approaches that treat the mind, the body, and relationships as one system.
Brainspotting
A brain-body therapy that uses where you look to reach what words can’t. It helps process trauma and shame held below conscious thought. I am a Certified Brainspotting Therapist and Consultant.
Interpersonal neurobiology
Dan Siegel’s framework shows how relationships shape the brain, and how safe connection helps us integrate what feels fragmented. It guides how I understand both addiction and betrayal.
Polyvagal theory
Much of what looks like a choice is a nervous system reacting to threat. Learning to recognize and regulate those states builds the safety that lasting change needs.
Mindfulness and the body
We learn to notice emotions as sensations in the body and to meet them with curiosity instead of judgment, toward ourselves and toward the feelings themselves. Shame often grows from judging what we feel, so this practice softens the cycle at its root.
What to expect when you reach out
Making the first call is often the hardest part. Here is what happens next.
A short, private first call
You tell me what is going on, I answer your questions, and we decide together whether to schedule a session. There is no pressure to commit.
You don’t have to be sure
You don’t need a diagnosis or a label to reach out. If sexual behavior is hurting you or your relationship, that is reason enough to talk.
Confidential and unhurried
Sessions are in person in Lakewood and are confidential. We move at a pace your nervous system can handle, never faster.
